LET'S TALK ABOUT LAWS.
UNDER MICHIGAN LAW,
YOU CAN GET
CONFIDENTIAL HEALTH CARE
AS A MINOR.
Minors of any age may recieve confidential advice, testing and treatment for the following without their parents knowledge or permission:
-
drug use and abuse
-
sexually transmitted infections or diseases
-
pregnancy or prenatal (pregnancy) care
-
birth control
The only exception to this is:
If you are a minor under the age of 12 years old and you are sexually active, that is considered child abuse and would not be confidential.
Your healthcare is not confidential/a parent or guardian will be notified without your permission if a health care professional learns that:
-
someone is hurting you
-
you are hurting yourself or someone else
-
you have a plan to hurt yourself or someone else
With this though they are supposed to inform you that they have to tell your parents, before they tell them.
